By Dr Niki Cheong, Lecturer in Digital Culture and Society, King’s College London (Profile here)

Hello and thank you for your interest in my research project looking into online information circulating on WhatsApp in Malaysia and Singapore. My name is Niki and I’m a lecturer at King’s College London, which is funding this project.

Currently, I am in Southeast Asia to conduct focus groups with participants aged 27 and above in both countries to find out more about what kinds of information they encounter and share on Whatsapp, and what else they use the chat app for.

Each focus group consisting of between 4-6 participants will take about 1.5 hours. I would be very keen to include you in my study if you are:

  • Based in either Singapore or Kuala Lumpur/Selangor
  • An English speaker
  • Aged between 27 and 78 years old, and can make it for the dedicated focus groups at the times and locations listed below.
