What’s up, #yorais – heard of Altimet?

How are you, mang? Sorry lah I am “speaking“. I changed my mode when I went into uni and found out that most people didn’t need to speak BM to communicate (even if we were all multi-racial.Some of them got married to one another, I guess your advice on mix-marriages came a bit too late!).

These days, I can still change my mode when I need to. But for you, malas a bit (did that one word of BM count?).

Anyways, I was thinking about what you said about radio stations needing to play local music to help the industry. That Freddie Fernandez fella also agree with you and since he’s a president, he must be right.

But I guess, in tune with the Malaysian way, we have to help each other wherever we can lah. After all, times are different now. People like Sudirman, P Ramlee and Sheila Majid (among many others) never needed any “interventions” to get acclaim but I guess they come from a different generation, no?

Waitaminute, but artistes like Zee Avi is from the current generation. Then again, she born in Miri, so maybe not counted. Besides, she didn’t need anyone’s help to get on the radio, she had YouTube (but we all know what your opinions are on social media tools, I suppose). So I guess you wouldn’t really count Bunkface’s Through My Window social media campaign a success as well?

Anyway, I decided that I would take your advice and start featuring some local artistes on my blog also (This blog is not a radio station lah, but then again, have to get into the 1Malaysia spirit right?).

Here we go then. I’d like to share with my readers the very beautifully shot video for the nice to listen song by Altimet (pictured above) called Syukur.

I chose this song for three reasons:

1. I was brought up to listen to my elders (and since you so old, you had dinosaurs for pets …).

2. The song is in Bahasa Malaysia (although rapping is not so Malaysian lah).

3. I actually really, really like it. The video is nice, the lyrics are great, the rapper is talented. Are you familiar with his music, by the way? You should really check him out.

Never mind, no need to go through a lot of effort. I will put the YouTube video here for you (can lah, just watch one thing off a social media site okay?).
