Congrats to Ida and Tania *spoiler ahead*

Just a quick shout out to Ida, Tania, Bernie and Henry for doing Malaysia proud.

They might not have won The Amazing Race Asia but I’d say both were serious contenders and if not for some back luck, both teams had one hand on the title.

Still, I think it’s quite an achievement that a Malaysian team has made it to the top three of all three The Amazing Race Asia competitions - woot!

So happy for my friends!

And to sign off, here is a tumpang glamour pic - my most recent with Ida :P I know, I know - action right? Aiyah, I not famous so must tumpang like this lor. Give chance lah!

With Ida at the Terry Fox run

Congrats to Sam & Vince for a well-deserved win, I thought!

Terry Fox Run Kuala Lumpur 2008

I woke up at 7ish am in a blur (read my previous post to find out why). And I would be lying if I didn’t tell myself - at least a million times - screw the run, screw the run. But then I had promised my brother-in-law Rizal I’d pick him up for it. Bah.

Rizal and I

Anyway, I was the one who wanted to run in the first place. It was going to be my first Terry Fox run (19th year in Malaysia, 27th year since the first run in Canada) and it was for a good cause - cancer research.

We were running late but managed to get there in time to buy our T-shirts. And there were thousands of people there. I really didn’t expect it because I didn’t see much publicity before-hand but I suppose word of mouth does wonders for an event like this.

What a crowd!

I started late - and right at the back of the pack. My official excuse is that Rizal’s brother, his wife and two kids where there too so we started last. But truth be told, I had an “emergency” - nature calls when one is out in nature I suppose - and had to run to Lake Club, and back. But managed to make it just in time. By then, though, we got caught among the really slow people and got delayed. Some people were even cheating - climbing up the slope instead of walking an additional couple of hundred metres.

Cheating! :P

I came back quite fast, and even I was surprised at myself. My timing wasn’t bad considering I walked for a good 10 minutes among the crowd before I could start running properly. That is, until I found out that I only did 3km (family route) instead of 5km (adult route). That would be my only gripe about the event - I didn’t see the sign where the route split, and I didn’t hear the person shouting out about the route split (maybe he/she was thirsty when I ran past and had to rest).

But never mind, it was still a nice morning out. I met many friends there, Frank and PuehTian (who didn’t see me when I shouted out to him as I ran past) who I ran the Nike+ Human Race in Singapore with, Effa, Nazri and Kenny among others. I also caught up with my old friend Ida, who was the ambassador or something similar for the Terry Fox Run, when she arrived at the finish line.

Ida and I

Looking forward to next year (when I can run the full 5k!). This will be my last run for a while - I can’t run without my knee hurting anymore, so I’m going for an ultrasound this week to get it checked out. It will take a while to recover though. :(

RWP location released!

I am heading over to Sabah for a few days to work on a youth development programmme with some teenagers, and as such, will miss RWP. Yes, the event I have been plugging, and plugging, and plugging.

Was told that even mobile reception is limited in Pukak, where my friend and I will be based, so don’t think I will even have time to blog. Will try to Twitter tho - so please check back here for updates.

But more importantly, received an email from Zain at 2.41am with the location of RWP released. Now that it’s officially out … here’s what the email read:

+
3pm KL Sentral with a book, mag or newspaper
The area infront of
1. KFC
2. Dunkin Donuts
3. KTM Komuter entrance

Can’t wait to see the reaction on peoples faces. :)

Oh, and this is the last of the three videos released to promote this Saturday’s semi-flashmob. You already know I’m in it but this version also features Ida Nerina, Emmett Butterfingers, Sharifah Aleysha, Sharifah Aryana, Sazzy Falak, Farihin Abdul Fattah, Shaz Mukhtar and Chef Ismail.

And please don’t just watch it. Embed it in your blogs, and link it around too. Spread the word!

Have fun on Aug 23!

Pop TV

A couple of posts ago, I plugged both The Fairly Current Show and RWP at the same time (Zain was featured on the show).

What I didn’t mention was that I actually visited the set of the new Internet TV show for an article I was doing for StarMag - out yesterday.

The article is mainly about The Fairly Current Show, and I spoke to the people behind the show and discovered something rather interesting - that the Internet can be seen as a “performance space”. If you missed the story, you can read it here.

There was also a sidebar that went along with the main story, that talks about the show and its current episode which features Zain (the one I embedded the last time).

And while I am on the subject of RWP - I thought I’d just mention that I am also in the video for the project which features among others the likes of Joyce The KinkyBlueFairy, PinkPau Su Ann, Dr. Farish Noor, Ida Nerina, Altimet, Jazeman Jaafar and more..

There are three versions to the video, the first one of which I embed below.
