You know you’re not very well liked when …
Dec 15, 2008 News Breaks
You get a shoe hurled at you!
I’m sorry but in a totally schadenfreude (getting pleasure from the misfortune of others) manner, I thought this was really funny (President George W Bush’s response to the shoe throwing is funnier though!). Okay, okay, so it’s not the nicest thing to wish to anyone but this goes to show that security personnel would need to worry about more than just checking for arms and weapons.
Now, will there be a ban on shoes to press conferences and future events involving world leaders?
Seriously though, the couple of news report I’ve read (and here) mentioned that there was blood on the carpet (but the source of it is unknown) and that the media organisation that shoe-thrower comes from has not heard from the reporter and that his mobile phone is switched off.
I hope he is fine.
p/s Sorry I’ve been so quiet folks. Between work, the show and my flu, I’m absolutely knackered!

How did George W. Bush make it to the White House?
Jul 30, 2008 Sounds Like Pop
I know, I know - I’ve been told that my blog reeks of politics (does it, really?) but I couldn’t resist this one. No, I’m not going to discuss “Double-yah” and his policies. I’ll let this movie - the trailer below - speak for itself. Michaelangelo Signorile blogged about the trailer’s release yesterday.
The movie is not out yet but a really long an exclusive story by Entertainment Weekly in May which speaks of detractors to director Oliver Stone’s statement (the Josh Brolin plays W!) that the movie is “fair, true portrait of the man”. The Dallas Morning News in April mentioned that four leaked scipts sent to biographers of Bush were mixed in their opinion of its accuracy.
Still, both articles mention that there’s alot of acuracy too - including his obsession with Saddam Hussein and his volatile relationship with his father, including the scene where he has a fistfight with Daddy Bush.
IMDB.com says that the movie is ” A chronicle on the life and presidency of George W. Bush…”
Oliver Stone, in the EW story, said:
“Bush may turn out to be the worst president in history. I think history is going to be very tough on him. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t a great story.”
I hope it comes to Malaysia - it will reportedly premier in France (oh, the irony of it all!) in October.
Oohhhh, I can’t wait.
