My first catwalk experience

Catwalk at M story launch

No, that’s not me but yes, uhuh uhuh, I did it! :P It was crazy. I was a nervous wreck (so I gulped down a glass of wine and tried to sip from everyone who was holding a bottle of baby champagne) but it went well.

It was the housearming (not launch, since they’ve been open for a few months now) of the M stores (for men and for women) at The Gardens and they invited some personalities including Ning Baizura, Elaine Daly, Chef Wan, Dzireena Mahathir, William Kee, Hansen Lee, Jonathan Putra, Camelia and er, moi!

I walked down with Elaine and I think the nervousness showed on my face. We were to walk from one end of the shiny, silver catwat (scattered with confetti) to another. After we took our first pose (well, she posed, I just took there like a freak), I slid a little bit on the confetti and had to chase Elaine down!

The crowd!

I just smiled like a loser the whole time, I didn’t know what to do! But it was a nice crowd though (there’s Sandra in the picture and I saw Rubin, Leong, Leon, Marina, Vivienne and many other friends there), friendly and familiar faces (I thought everyone would be at the MIFW ‘08 event but I suppose they went after) and it was good to catch up with some friends.

I don’t have pictures of myself (too shy to camwhore) but I was wearing a Just Cavalli shirt, Rock & Republic Jeans and had a Tom Ford sunnies on my head. All amounting to more than my two months salary, mind you!

Thanks to the folks at Melium - I had good fun (the drinks helped!).

Rocking out at Urbanscapes!

What a day! Lots happened today (including finishing my taxes, which btw, is not finished yet) but the highlights had to be Urbanscape, then a nice foot reflexology with Elaine and Hansen and then yummy dinner at HSBC (the restaurant, not the bank).

Spaceman!
Live art? Haha

We didn’t stay too long at the event held in KLpac, just a few hours, but it was fun enough. I managed to catch Estanged’s act (yes, I’m still a groupie), spent some time at The Marketplace, catch up with friends and of course, Rob!

Instalation
I really liked a lot of the installations on display.

Yup, Project Rob - RA’s latest project - happened at Urbanscapes today and the victim was Adrian Yap - the publisher of KLUE and the other magazines they, umm, publish. It was quite cool, some of us were wearing RA’s new line of T-Shirts (should be on sale soon) and we got people at various points to ask people if they had seen Adrian. Then people started shouting along - Adrian! Adrian Yap! Adrian!

It was quite funny! :)

There were so many things happening at Urbanscapes though, so I got lost midway through but I enjoyed myself (although it was hot beyond belief)! And parking was crazy too! Madness!

But anyway, yeah, it was nice seeing so many people there, and I shot quite a few photos too.

Ohh, Adam so sexy. Must be from when he was secretly in love with me.
With Jin and another friend I don’t remember the name. Soz!

Moët Rosé Indulgence Party

So last night was rather interesting. I was going to pick my cousin Elaine up to head over to the Moet Rose Indulgence Party (yes, the champagne Moet & Chandon) when, as usual I was late. So, I broke every driving law possible sped home from work only that, well, I didn’t have to ‘cos the roads were clear.

This was strange for me because at about 7pm every day, the road leading up to Bangsar is always jammed up. And then as I was getting ready to rush to pick her up, the roads to her house were clear too!

Coincidence? Or were there really less cars on the road (possibly because of the fuel hike?).

Anyway, so while I thought we were going to be late, we actually got there on time. The party was held at Pavilion, KL, and it was quite the party. As, of course, you would expect from a champagne party. They served us baby bottles of champagne, with a flute attached to it so it was easier to drink. So cute!

Moet Rose

The theme, to go with the Moet Rose, was pink and many people did dress up for the occasion. Many familiar faces too (and made some new acquaintances) but I can’t put up photos on here, because, in case you can’t tell, I don’t have a habit of putting my own face on my blog (I leave that to Facebook) but I did upload some onto my Flickr page.

Familiar faces

So, in case you didn’t know that I’ve officially become a groupie of local band Estranged, I had to put a photo of its drummer Andy up, in the picture above with Adam “Karat” Carruthers (who, as I tell the world over and over again, used to secretly fancy me). Below, Carmen Soo in a picture with Geetha Anandarajan from Talent Factory and Stephanie Chai.

More familiar faces

Also there were, of course, Elaine Daly, Gillian Hung, Daphne Iking, Rubin Khoo, Kid Chan, Magie Abang Saufi, Izlyn Ramli, Ethel Cho, Serena C, KinkyBlueFairy Joyce, Ariez Khairudin, Wahti Mahidin, Adam Lee, John Lim, Kevin Yeoh, Muna Noor, Jade Yong, Yun WenLai, Divya, Debbie Chan, Joel Victoria and Reena Tan. These are the people I know and can remember lah.

Thanks to Wei, Amri, Adeline, Choon et al for a blast! :)

Martell VSOP Rising Personality of 2008

So, I spent the night with some friends (left work early, will suffer tomorrow - or rather, today) at the Martell Personality of the Year event held at KLpac.

Elaine, who was also there as JP’s guest (and one of four celebrity models for the auction segment), texted me earlier and said that the organisers had “raped” Pentas 1. It was quite a funny statement, but basically they covered all the seats with fabric (and projected their logo on them), and then the tables were set up where the stage usually is. It was rather interesting to be honest.

But it wasn’t the location that was the focus of the night - it was the 10 personalities of course. I was quite excited when I found out, when I got there that is, that a few of my friends were in the top 10 list including Bernard Chauly, Jaclyn Victor and of course, JP who invited me as one of his guests.

Anyway, to cut the long story short, none of my friend won the grand prize - violinist Joanne Yeoh took home the RM30,000 and trip for two to France.

But JP and Jac both were named second and first runners-up respectively, so am very happy for them! They each won a HUGE bottle of Martell (not sure if they get anything else, but all 10 nominees get like a trophy, a limited edition bottle of Martell as well as 10 bottles of the drink at some clubs or something). Not a bad deal at all.

So anyways, here is JP after he was named second runner up.

JP with his huge thingy

Congrats buddy, and to you too Jac!

The Bangsar Boy: The Sound of Music

On Wednesday, me, Elaine and a couple of friends drove over to 1-Utama to catch Marie Digby in person. I have to admit that I wasn’t a fan, and the only song I know from her is her cover of Rihanna’s Umbrella. Still, Hansen thought she smelt nice when they interviewed her on the NTV7 Breakfast show, so we all went. It was okay, but I was more amused by the crowd than the performance. One really funny part was when she started singing Umbrella, and some guy opened one up and started waving it around.

After some ice-cream, we headed over to Laundry Bar at The Curve, where a few local acts were performing at a Motorola event. We were late so we only managed to catch Karen Nunis Blackstone and well, Estranged. I have heard of the band naturally (and that one song - Itu Kamu) but I have never watched them live.

All I can say is I’m glad I did (I am so going to be an Estranged groupie from now). So for The Bangsar Boy, my fortnightly column in The Star which was published today, I gush about them and recall about a particular incident as a kid in primary school when my friends, most of whom lived in Kampung Kerinchi, labelled me a rocker.

Yes, it’s laughable … but it happened. Click here to check the article out. Feel free to come back here to log your comments, aye?
