Stay strong, Elizabeth Wong
And to think that barely a year ago, most Malaysians would probably not be able to name an assemblyman other than their local one.
Now, after the whole Perak debacle (which, sadly is still not resolved), another assemblyman – PKR’s Elizabeth Wong – is in the limelight. And, as far as I’m concerned, for the wrong reasons!
After The Sun carried it on their front page yesterday (and The Malay Mail later that morning), you would have expected the story of “nude” pictures of Elizabeth making it to the front page of almost all the dailies.
No one knows anything for sure. What we do know is this: Elizabeth has confirmed that the pictures are indeed of her (she has lodge a police report and given her statement to the police to help investigations), the cops were due to question an ex-boyfriend “said” to have taken the pictures and that Elizabeth has offered to resign from her position as Selangor executive council member and Bukit Lanjan assemblyman (although PKR has asked her to hold off from resigning just yet). She also claims that the pictures were taken without her consent.
I, for one, am horrified that this has happened. I stand by the principle that everyone has the right to privacy. Whether or not the pictures were taken without consent, the mere act of spreading it should be condemned – whatever the reasons.
Of course, there are lot of speculations. The most immediate reaction is that this is politically motivated. I do not know for sure, but I applaud the many politicians from all political divides – including Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Teresa Kok, Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Datuk Liow Tiong Lai and Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun – who have come out to condemn this act.
However former Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Khir Toyo had called for her resignation, stating that it was a moral issue.
By who’s values, Datuk Seri? What’s more, he is making such calls and comments based on what I’m assuming are the same reports we have all read, which means that there are little details. So to make such a call on presumption is pretty low. Trying to score political points as March approaches, I suppose. Simply apalling.
Whether she ends up resigning or not, is up to her. I’m sure she knows what is best for her, her career and the organisations that she represent. I just hope that none of her decisions are made under pressure or duress.
I hope that Elizabeth finds strength in this trying time, and would be able to come out of it unscathed. I don’t know her or her work – as she isn’t my assemblyman or MP – but no one should ever be subjected to such despicable action.

Elizabeth Wong..stay strong, don’t give up…we need you.
I couldn’t agree with you more.
With all the back to back events, it only makes one wonder on who’s behind it any why.

Never run, because that’s what the bullies want you to do. They are cowards resorting to stupid unethical tactics…in a nutshell – brainless – still full of shits, greed and so overly corrupted. The whole of Malaysia need you now – dont run! Malaysia needs you! My children needs you. They cant learn from the present government..
The man/wpman who posted that picture must be punished once identified and his/her large picture should be on front page on all local dialies for all malaysian to see.
True leaders are servants of the community. They are pioneers and initiators who take the pain to lead and care for the rakyat. They wake up earlier than others. They work longer than others. They are the first inline when it comes to sacrifice. It is not the title they have after their name, that matters. They have the heart to serve, wisdom to organize things. Their faith move mountains. They have vision for all people regardless of their skin colours. They work for long term. They ultimately win the hearts of people.
Our verdict: Elizabeth Wong should take the challenge and come back a wiser leader. Malaysia needs true leaders.

Alexander

For those who did this things are not enough far vision, he/she do not think the indirect consequence but think maybe for one puporse only.
If she fails at this time means she fall for the enemy bobby traps.
(No need to replly to me, it just my personal views.)
YB Elizabeth Wong = YB Chuah Soi Lek. Both should resign regardless of their political belief.
dr chua , a married man, was caught in the act. Elizabeth did nothing wrong. Some perverts stole shots of her sleeping with minimal clothing. She is clearly a victim here. To those who have never sinned, let him cast the first stone
if everyone do the dirty trick, will that mean everyone have to resign from the past untill forever? she should not resign just like that, she should stay to prevent history repeat. Remember the indirect consequence like/maybe reputation of democlacy nation that have sex scandal, does someone remember the 10 year ago US Clinton scandal and England Princess Diana.
