Just received a message from The Star’s SMS News Alert (full report here):
Veteran journalist Abdul Samad Ismail died at the Pantai Medical Centre, KL, at 5.58pm after suffering from lung infection.
There has been many reports of the ailing Pak Samad over the past week. Born in 1925, the Pejuang Sastera (Literaturee Champion) has been a journalist (and later Managing Editor of News Straits Times, among others) since before WW II, and was a founding member, along with Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, of the People’s Action Party (PAP).
Rest in peace.
