Well, I thought I’d get the syiok sendiri picture out of the way first before I start blogging about yesterday’s Project Alpha Blogger’s Launch party at Cathay Cineleisure. After all, how often does one have a huge bunting with one’s face on it. Not very often I’d say, at least for me!
Anyway, continuing yesterday’s blog post on the Project Alpha press conference, I headed back to e@curve in the evening for the blogger’s launch. If I remember correctly, 80 bloggers stood a chance to win invites to the event which was us all a chance to meet each other, as well as catch a movie screening after.
Food was served at about 7.30pm but the movie – Kick Ass – was only due to show at 9.30pm (after the trailer for Project Alpha was screened).
Just a quick note on the movie: I know it’s based on a comic book but it is definitely not suitable for kids (no matter how liberal you are). I found it really good – humour, pacing, etc – but then again, I missed half of it because I held my jumper up to cover my eyes from all the blood and gore. But if you like that kind of thing and Quentin Tarantino is your idol, you have to watch it.
Back to our usual programming.
At the event, I didn’t take many pictures of the Nuffies because they were all running around and looked busy. But I managed to take the picture above because Fresh @ Xinxian curi tulang and got made up at the Rimmel booth. She was also the one with my ticket for the movie, so I had to be nice to her. haha
I got there a little before 8pm and already the place was packed. I’ve only ever been to one Nuffnang event before so I felt a bit out of place initially because I didn’t know many people. I immediately gravitated to the familiar faces like KY, ShaolinTiger, Michael Cheang, Kimberlycun, Fourfeetnine, Ninie and the likes.
Azwan Ali was swamped by fans as you would expect but I managed to get some shots with him (unfortunately, silly me didn’t get any shots on my camera but there’s one of us on his blog) and Joe sat with Wendy and Mike most of the time (they had spent the afternoon together doing a tour of the P1 Wimax building after the press conference where their rep spoke along with the reps from Adidas Action 3 and Malaysia Airlines.
Here are some shots I took pre-movie:
Clockwise from top:
With ST, Kim, co-founder of Nuffnang Timothy Tiah and KY.
It was really nice meeting so many new bloggers and I took many shots, some of which have already gone up on their blogs. Such efficiency!
The best part of the night, I thought, was the times we were laughing like crazy including this one where we just happened to be standing around and someone noticed the difference in our height. Both Audrey and ST are known for their height (on opposite ends of the spectrum) so KY and I were just there to isi tempat kosong.
Naturally, all this naturally led to talk about height and they had an inside joke going on about midgets (and how Audrey, er, had night vision because she was one. Then there was also this thing about how not only do midgets have night vision, they also have no knees. To get the full context of the joke, read Kim’s blog post.
Which lead to this picture below. Not only did we establish that ST is about 4 feet 9inches when he’s on his knees (Audrey, the original Fourfeetnine, was wearing heels), but we established the fact that midgets also have no knees, as the picture below shows.
It was hilarious, and really was one of those, you had to be there moments!
I had a blast and again, I’ll say this: I can’t wait for the premiere of Project Alpha Season 2. For updates, you can join the Facebook group or follow it on Twitter.
Here’s the season 2 trailer, for a sneak preview of the show:
