Malaysian Tatler Ball 2009: 20th Anniversary
Who said only girls like to dress up? After having such a great time last year at the Tatler Ball, I returned this time – in a tux! But more on that later.
The evening was posh as ever. It was the 20th anniversary, so you can imagine that it was going to be quite the event. That said, it was pretty spectacular last year too, IMHO, so it’s hard to compare. I was less in awe though. Last year, I was busy snapping pictures of the food, decor and stuff.
This year, I just took one shot – just to fulfill quota. *grin*

The food was great again, and you can’t really go wrong with champagne and wine during meals (and cocktails outside!).
At my table were some beautiful, amazing and strong women, as the picture below indicates. From left to right: Annie Fernandez, Vivienne Lee Iskandar, Datuk Paduka Marina Mahathir and Ivy Josiah. I’m tempted to call them the Golden Girls *ducks* hehe but I think Spice Girls is really more appropriate.

Besides the meal and mingling, the highlight of all the Tatler Balls are of course the award ceremony. Again, there was a winner on the table I was seated at (last year, there were two!). See if you can spot the person in the picture below. Truth be told, I only recognise two people from the many winners below but I suppose everyone else knew who they are.

Figured out who the winner at our table yet? Yup, it’s no other than Marina who was presented with the Diamond Award, for her courage to speak her mind and putting her thoughts into action. Actually I made that up but when they presented her with the award, they said something along those lines.
I sneaked to the side at the front to get a picture of her.

We didn’t stay as late this year as we did in 2008. I had the Terry Fox run (will blog on that soon) the next morning and also the photoshoot for The Swimming Instructor. Still, we didn’t leave the place till 2pm and the party was still in full swing.
I think.
Well, I met a few friends there (and made new friends) and we spent a lot of time outside just chatting and having drinks. After the award ceremony and a bit of dancing (had to lah, besides, it’s quite fun to see everyone dressed to the nines but dancing menyancing like there’s not tomorrow), Ineza, Enrique and I went to the lounge upstairs for a drink. Siti had to leave early – again!
I had a good time, as always. And it’s nice to dress up occasionally. Want to know how I look like in a tux. Well, here’s a shot of some of us young ones (well, I was like way older than the three here but still …) taken at the end on the night.
Wonder if I’ll get an invite for 2010?
