Let’s hear it for Earth Hour

So, I’ve made my feelings about Earth Hour pretty clear. Hence, I’m not going to go into it. I just wanted to share my experience.

1. Am staying in a hotel in Malacca. I usually take the key off the keychain (which serves as a tool to boot up power for the room) but this time, I didn’t. So when I am out, there is not power being used in my room. Good leh. I’ll try not to do that any more in the future!

2. At Earth Hour, I was sitting at the satay celup shop having dinner. I had enough trouble trying to speak Chinese to order my dishes, that I decided I probably couldn’t explain to the aunty what Earth Hour was for her to turn it off. Besides, if she did turn the lights off, we wouldn’t know what we were celup-ing. And if I turned it off myself, she might celup me instead! So, sorry folks, lights were on there.

3. As my parents and I walked back towards the car, I was looking to see if anywhere was obviously “switched off” for Earth Hour. There was one block of shoplots that were pretty dark (looks bright outside but that’s the street lamps) so I took a picture of it. If you look at the picture below, some of them cheated. Lights are on inside. Though, I think it wasn’t so much Earth Hour than  it was Bed Time. Haha

3. I had to come to Starbucks because of some fuck screw up at work requiring me to send video files (massive ones at that) back to KL. So we went off to Mahkota Parade and to my surprise (I really haven’t been keeping up with the major organisations who have signed on to participate in Earth Hour), Starbucks had most of their lights off. I thought it was great. And when I went to get my drinks, found out that the company was offering 20% discount during Earth Hour.

4. And then, at exactly 9.30pm, the lights came back on.
