Kicking off my Project Alpha Season 2 experience
Some of you might not have heard, but I will be one of the bloggers featured in season 2 of Project Alpha, a collaborative project between Nuffnang and Kyanite TV.
The production phase has already begun for the show but I haven’t yet done the shooting for my segment yet. What we did have was the photoshoot session for the publicity.

The shoot was on Friday and I got the first slot. I arrived at the same time as Jojo Struys, who hosts Project Alpha, so we did our makeup together. It was really fun (spending time with her, not putting on the make-up mind you although we were in the good hands of the A Cut Above crew) because Jojo and I often bump into each other at events, but rarely do we get to sit down and chat.
I first met Jojo back in 2004 when we featured her on the cover of NewMan, the magazine that I was working at back then. In fact, Jojo was the first person I featured on the cover when I came in as editor! At that time, I spent a lot of time at studios like this because we had at least two shoots for the magazine each month.

The venue for our shoot was at Studio Pashe in Bandar Sri Damansara. I knew the place well because I’d shot many people there including Jaclyn Victor, Amber Chia and Deanna Yusoff. It was quite surreal walking into the studio knowing that it was me who was going to be in front of the camera. But I knew I was going to be okay because our photographer was Simon Chin, who also took many of the shots for NewMan. You can see him hiding in the lower left corner of the picture above.
When I walked in and saw him, I said: “Wow, I’ve not been here in almost five years!”

Because I got the earliest slot, I was the first to be ready. The stylists really gave me big hair and put lots of make-up on. They spent a lot of time under my eyes – oh no, the eye bags must have been showing pretty bad!
The photo above was taken by Nuffnang’s David Wong, and posted on the Project Alpha Twitter account. You have to follow @projectalphaMY if you want to be kept updated with the production – who’s on the show, where the crew is shooting and more. If you’re Twittering about the show, don’t forget the hashtag: #projectalpha

I was a vain-pot (as usual) and brought a few sets of clothes for the shoot, because I never can decide what to wear! In the end, I managed to convince them to let me take pictures in two different sets so that they can select the better one. The one above was a T-shirt I got from Startup Schwag, but I also took some shots in my new Thomas Pink shirt and, yup, my hat! Have to lah right?
I don’t have any pics of me posing for the camera so I had to curi the one above from the Yoga blogger Ninie Ahmad (sorry ye, Ninie!), who I met for the first time at the shoot (also met Azwan Ali and ShaolinTiger while I was at the studio). Managed to take a camwhore picture with Jojo and Ninie too!

My shoot is next week (and I’ve also got a big trip planned but details on that later) and I’m quite excited. I’ll keep you guys updated!

Your big hair overshadowed the presence of your fedora! Lol. I know I’m random. Anyway, I’ll be looking out for Project Alpha in the future! =)

Yeah, it was quite cool. Can’t wait to see the outcome of all of us in the poster etc.
I actually have MANY pictures of you in front of the camera, will email them to you when my Internet speed gets better (obviously, I still couldn’t figure how to use the Wiggy).
I got really intimidated seeing you posed, you switch from one pose to another like it the frame was made for you!
Hehe No worries at all. Sorry I curi the gambar yeah?
And oh, what to be intimidated – hello, look at the way YOU posed! Geez. *jealous*
Congrats. Wish u all d best in project alpha.
Thanks Chris, I’m very excited
By the way i watch Project Alpha on youtube! Love it. (Looking forward to watch you on it) + Jojo (She’s a cool host)
Can’t wait for the daily dose of project alpha video.

I’m also wondering! *wink*
hey! good to hear u had fun at your photoshoot! i wish i could’ve been there >.<
happy shooting on friday!
Haha Yeah, we need to lepak sometime!
Niki, what a cool post. i’m looking forward to our shoot n the juicy gossip I’m gonna get on you when I interview your famous cousin haha *wicked laugh* It’s about time for you to sit back n be the one answering questions rather than asking them!
*worried* hehe
actually har.. i dont quite understand.. ninieahmad is gonna be featured blogger for project alpha?
i thought the sub-theme for project alpha is “Uncovering Malaysia’s Top Bloggers”
is she really malaysia’s top BLOGGER, or… malaysia’s top PERSONALITY? kinda off huh?
anyway, was just wondering..
all the best in your videos =)
Hi Kenwooi,
I asked the same question to Nuffnang (and to myself) too! I used to get way more hits when I was blogging at The Yoga Instructor Diaries last year as no juicy gossips & no-advertorial-policy at http://ninieahmad.com just aren’t as attractive.
I always think of myself as The Yoga Teacher That Blogs instead of The Blogger That Teaches Yoga and personally I’d rather be known as the first one, given a chance.
But either one – I am honoured anyway
although the latter ‘Malaysia’s Top Personality’ (quoted by you) sounds wayyyy better
i have just got to stay up with ur blog lately!
i love ur blog~
i have just discovered that u were the bangsar boy!
and im also looking forward to watching this show!!
ohya, when is it going to be aired?
take care!
