Get ready for Michael Lau at Zinc Art Space
A few weeks ago, I saw this image on Facebook. It was on H5′s Facebook Fan Page and it was very intriguing.

I had heard about a new gallery opening up in Bangsar (I am The Bangsar Boy after all *cough* hehe syiok sendiri man) and that rumours that famed toy designer Michael Lau from Hong Kong was going to be featuring some of his works here were swirling about town.
Well, as you can see from the invite below, it’s true.

I’m not sure what surprises are in store by Michael Lau, come next week, but I am very eager to check his suff out. I hope to get a figurine or two (hopefully, I can afford it!).
Prior to this, I was invited to check out the Zinc Art Space (located at 61, Jalan Maarof in Bangsar) – the location of MINDstyle LIFEstyle presents Michael Lau – as I was not able to attend the soft launch due to my rehearsals. I walked in and really loved the place. It was a nice urban feel to it, and reminded me very much of the loft-type galleries in New York.
Okay, so I’ve only been to New York once but I checked out some stuff there (plus, my trip was to cover an art show in a gallery very reminiscent of this place).

I heard that the opening ceremony was quite fun – lots of amazing works, friendly faces and good arty-farty entertainment and things to see. Just as well I couldn’t make it, I might have been bitten by the art buying bug (and I reallllyyy can’t afford it just yet).
The gallery is open, so you guys can just go check it out. If you don’t know exactly where it is located, just look for the Hindu temple just off Jalan Bangsar as you turn into Bangsar. It’s right next to it.
This is its exterior from the ouside:

The opening ceremony for the Michael Lau show will be on Dec 11, 2009 at 3pm to 6pm and you can bet that I’ll be there checking some stuff out.
See you there? Can’t wait.
5.38pm Malaysian time (+8 GMT)
Hopefully this post will pay for part of my first art piece I’m going to purchase!
