Moët Rosé Indulgence Party
Jun 6, 2008 Events
So last night was rather interesting. I was going to pick my cousin Elaine up to head over to the Moet Rose Indulgence Party (yes, the champagne Moet & Chandon) when, as usual I was late. So, I broke every driving law possible sped home from work only that, well, I didn’t have to ‘cos the roads were clear.
This was strange for me because at about 7pm every day, the road leading up to Bangsar is always jammed up. And then as I was getting ready to rush to pick her up, the roads to her house were clear too!
Coincidence? Or were there really less cars on the road (possibly because of the fuel hike?).
Anyway, so while I thought we were going to be late, we actually got there on time. The party was held at Pavilion, KL, and it was quite the party. As, of course, you would expect from a champagne party. They served us baby bottles of champagne, with a flute attached to it so it was easier to drink. So cute!

The theme, to go with the Moet Rose, was pink and many people did dress up for the occasion. Many familiar faces too (and made some new acquaintances) but I can’t put up photos on here, because, in case you can’t tell, I don’t have a habit of putting my own face on my blog (I leave that to Facebook) but I did upload some onto my Flickr page.

So, in case you didn’t know that I’ve officially become a groupie of local band Estranged, I had to put a photo of its drummer Andy up, in the picture above with Adam “Karat” Carruthers (who, as I tell the world over and over again, used to secretly fancy me). Below, Carmen Soo in a picture with Geetha Anandarajan from Talent Factory and Stephanie Chai.

Also there were, of course, Elaine Daly, Gillian Hung, Daphne Iking, Rubin Khoo, Kid Chan, Magie Abang Saufi, Izlyn Ramli, Ethel Cho, Serena C, KinkyBlueFairy Joyce, Ariez Khairudin, Wahti Mahidin, Adam Lee, John Lim, Kevin Yeoh, Muna Noor, Jade Yong, Yun WenLai, Divya, Debbie Chan, Joel Victoria and Reena Tan. These are the people I know and can remember lah.
Thanks to Wei, Amri, Adeline, Choon et al for a blast! :)

Laos, here I come!
Jun 5, 2008 Trips
It’s still a few days away but I’m starting to get a bit excited over my trip to Laos. I leave for Vientienne next Tuesday for nine days, both for work and pleasure.

I’ll be heading there with World Vision, to see a new area and community they are developing. Coming along the trip is Michael Wong (Guang Lian), a popular Malaysian singer based in Taiwan. On Tuesday, I met up with the WV people for a breifing and that got me excited.
So yesterday, I went to MPH to buy myself a travel guide. I usually prefer the DK Eyewitness series but they didn’t have one on Laos, so I settled for the Lonely Planet Guide shown above. I spent most of last night reading it, and found it quite alright so no complains here.
Anyway, I’m still having some trouble deciding on where to stay etc for the few days I have on my own. Will be in Vientienne and plan to head over as well to Luang Prabang but not sure if I should fly (which will cost a bit) or take the bus, which is much, much cheaper but I heard that over the past few years, there has been hijacking and also takes many hours.
So the reason for this post, really, is to find out if anyone has been there and have any tips to share about these two locations. Hope to hear from you guys, I’ll be most grateful!

RM2.70
Update (10.13pm):
At the bottom of this post, I mention that I’m too depressed to link to any sites. But I just saw this one titled Malaysia will launch another astronaut into space tonight … - which is bloody hilarious - and this one titled Petrol price hike … again!, which I thought was rather interesting.
Sigh.
Don’t suppose much needs to be said. If fuel is the current buzzword, then those three digits have got to be buzz numbers.
The sigh says everything I feel at the moment. That’s all I have to say on the subject.
I drove out (using mum’s car! heh heh) to Bangsar Village earlier to buy something and thought I’d drive past some petrol stations to see what’s going on (I had already pumped a full tank yesterday). I passed one Petronas and there were cones in front of all the petrol stations. Not sure if they ran out or they didn’t want to sell it (are they allowed to do that?).
Anyway, this was about 7.10pm and by the time I passed it again at 8.30pm on the way back (I wasn’t buying that many things, but the traffic was crazy), there were lines and lines of cars waiting to fill up. This was the same scenario at three different petrol stations I passed although, I have to say, that Petronas and BhP were the most popular, I could actually count the number of cars (17) at Shell.
Can’t even call these people kiasu - after all, at the moment, my Waja’s full tank is about RM110 - tomorrow, it’ll be about RM155-160. That’s like RM40-50 bucks saved man.
And that, by the way, explains the jam I was stuck in.
Oh, and I’m still sighing by the way. (Too depressed to link to any articles etc).

Four days to KLX
Jun 4, 2008 Events
I’m counting down … yes, I’m that excited. heh heh
Still no news from them RandomActs people, so we’ll just have to wait and see. Two more days before the mp3s are released to the 90 RandomAgents. I wonder if I will find anything in my mailbox then?
Don’t know what I’m talking about? Well, only the coolest thing to happen this weekend IMHO (well, that and The Star’s Green Every Day - Act Now event at Taman Lembah Kiara on June 8 from 9am to 4pm - shameless plug). Click here for more details.
Anyway, I did say that I will be blogging more about KLX as the day approaches but since there’s nothing to blog about just yet, I thought maybe I would share a couple of my favourite pictures from KL Freeze in Unison.

Pic 1: My favourite shot that was also featured in the official video.
Pic 2: This guy really didn’t move for 4 minutes. Not even a twitch.
Pic 3: This family came up to me to ask me what was happening. Then they sportingly decided to pose for me.
To view the other pics I took from that day, click here. Or here to watch the official video from KLFU.
Come on, Zain HD, people are waiting! Although my cousin Elaine did ask last night when I told her about KLX, “Is this some sort of cult ah?” She so funny, my cousin. =)

Obama for President (was Obama creates history)
Jun 4, 2008 News Breaks
UPDATE (9.38am):
EVeryone, including CNN, BBC and even The Star, has reported that Senator Barack Obama, has won enough delegates to make him the first black presidential candidate.
Am also currently watching live on Yahoo! News Hillary Clinton’s address in New York. She sounds like she’s conceding, but she also mentioned that: “Where do we go from here? I am making no decisions tonight”.
Not sure how this works (her not conceding defeat) if everyone thinks that Obama already have the numbers - unless this has something to do with the confusing delegates system they have. Hmmm … I wonder if the decisions is not about dropping out but about where she goes on from here, as once the best bet to be the Democratic candidate for the US Presidential elections back to becoming just a Senator. Vice president, ma’am?
… that is, if the AP tally is accurate.
The Associate Press is reporting that Senator Barrack Obama has “effectively” won enough delegates to win the Democratic Party’s presidency bid. This would make him the first ever black candidate in United States history to campaign to be US President.
This report was released by AP just 14 minutes ago. It states:
“The tally was based on public declarations from delegates as well as from another 15 who have confirmed their intentions to the AP. It also included 11 delegates Obama was guaranteed as long as he gained 30 percent of the vote in South Dakota and Montana later in the day. It takes 2,118 delegates to clinch the nomination.”
An hour before that, the news agency reported that his competitor Senator Hillary Clinton (who would have been the first female presidential candidate) will concede defeat, should he get enough votes in South Dakota and Montana.
If all the primaries and caucauses from the past few months are anything to go by, Barrack Obama should get those 11 delegates.
But the drama continues because CNN is reporting that Clinton’s top aide is denying a possible concession, just after AP released that report. All eyes will be on the United States today as the votes are counted.
Personally, I’m not sure if she’ll give it up ‘cos she’s a fighter (and that is why I was rooting for her all this while). But I am a realist as well, so I think it’s about time to concede (yes, Nicholas, you win).
Can I now hope for a Obama-Clinton ticket to take on old McCain? I certainly hope so. I think we’ve had enough Republican with ‘W’ to last us a lifetime.
